Loose power cord connection with X60

#1 Post by Trolle » Fri Sep 29, 2006 5:23 pm

I got my new X60 yesterday and immediately noticed that the power cord plug does not fit snuggly with the computer. I have not tried it with docking station yet.

Is this the same for all machines?

I did a search in all the forums but did not see any posts. Either I am the only one with this problem or it is simply normal.

The X60 blows my Toshiba away but I never had to be concerned that the power cord was going to fall out by itself.

You're not alone. I noticed the issue out of the box on my x60s. The connection is not as secure as one would like. I'm not excited about it either but since there appears no obvious fix other than a re-spec I'll live with it. I'll give them credit for getting the colors to match though.

Well, at least I am not the only one out with this issue. As long as the power is not interrupted while jiggling it around I can live with it.

Strange as everything else appears to be of such high quality.

I have four new 60 series, all different models and all have the same feel when pushing the connector into the socket. The new larger connector does indeed have a different feel, however it's not the result of a defect or poor design, just different.

This was my conclusion as well. If you take a toothpick and poke around the laptop's connector, it doesn't seem to move. I guess the connection with the AC adapter is supposed to be loose...who knows, maybe it reduces stress on the laptop's connector if there's a small amount of play and the connectors insert easily.

Same problem here. I'm afraid that it might not hold up for the 2-3 yrs i plan on keeping the computer for. I really wish they stuck with the classic adaptors.

Interestingly, the AC socket in x6 ultrabase holds the connector somewhat stronger than in the computer itself. So I just opt to keep it plugged into the docking station instead.
