I can't change my batteries at all...

#1 Post by NS » Fri Sep 29, 2006 11:32 pm

Hey guys,

I have read about the battery recall yesterday on Wall Street Journal online and 2 of my batteries are affected. 92P1089 and 92P1142.

I called the Lenovo rep and a guy answered the call and i asked him for more info on how should i go about changing the battery and he asked me how many cycles have my battery undergone and i told him 1 of the battery has 200 cycles and the other have 311 cycles. Guess what he told me...!

The rep told me that batteries with more than 150 cycles will not be exchanged for free. Only those below 150 cycles will be exchanged for free.

What should i do now???

Please help me.. :-(

I don't expect my batteries to be manufactured by Sony to have any overheating issues but who knows the unpredicted has already happened. :-(

I probably would not expect a battery with so many cycles to be replaced for free. My T41 battery is Sanyo, is 32 months old, is wearing out, and has 64 cycles on it. I would not expect it tobe replaced under warranty.

I guess the bigger problem for you is: what do you purchase so as to assure yourself there will not be a problem?

Call back and try again. That can't possibly be correct. It is a safety recall - not based on use or anything else. The batteries are a potential safety hazard. They have to exchange them.

The rep. was probably confused with some other battery return policy.

Call back. I wasn't even asked about cycles with my "affected" battery.

Let us know.

My affected battery had over 300 cycles. No questions asked it was replaced, and I just got my new Sanyo battery in the mail yesterday.
