#1 Post by pfbmgd » Sun Oct 01, 2006 12:49 pm

I`m trying to transfer files from one computer to another(my T60 to home unit) .I bought a USB bridge to transfer the files .Both computers are XP .The hardware installs ok .But I can`t figure out how to get the files transfered.

It is easier and simpler (from my perspective and in my own personal opinion) to use a standard router. However:

Make sure Simple File Sharing is disabled. Then make sure firewalls on both computers allow the common IP range of both computers. The in Windows Explorer (or equivalent) use Tools -> Map Network Drive. \\othercomputer\c$ -> Different User. Enter the userid and password of the other computer. Then you should see the whole other drive.

I think that when using those USB cables you need to use the "Files and Settings Tranfer Wizard" or "Direct Cable Connection" unless there is a specific application that comes with the unit.
