Repair shop in MA to mix-match parts on dying a30/a31p model

#1 Post by chris_clark » Sun Oct 01, 2006 3:21 pm

I have 3 a30/a31p units, that are in various degrees of [not] working.

2653-CU1 (working, but has xga screen and I want uxga)
2653-66U (working, but keyboard has some sticky keys now, and display developing red line problems, may fail at any day)
2653-XX7 (dead, does not respond to power at all, had red line display problems before dying)

Ideally what I would like is to get 2 working units with uxga screens out of the 3. Thus, if possible, I would like to have the keyboard of the dead unit exchanged with the one with the sticking keys and the display from same dead unit exchanged with one the has xga screen currently. Most imnportantly, I would like to take it to a reliable place to have said repairs done, as I am all thumbs when it comes to anything physical/mechanical. I also don't want to pay too much as I can get used units with approximately the right spec for about $400 on ebay.

Thus, two questions:

Is what I want possible?

Are there any repair places in the greater Boston area (i.e. between Nashua, Providence, and Worcester) that can do said repairs; which someone would recommend?[/b]
