2nd HDD adapter fot T43

#1 Post by lord jim » Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:35 am

I have just received it from China!!!, strangely though is very hard to inserd and even harder tu pull out of the UltraBay. It seems to me it should slide in and out with simlar force as CD/DVD of second battery. Just confirm for me please so I may at least leave negative feedback on ebay for the company which sold it to me. Thanks a lot for the sake of others too.

Indeed, the adapter slides in easily, but with a little more friction than a second battery or CD-ROM/DVD drive.

The problem you describe may not be with the adapter. Perhaps the metal cage inside the Thinkpad is "compressed" and that is causing the friction. On the other hand, if the friction is on the sides of the adapter, then there is something wrong.

I am not sure why this would be the seller's fault unless the adapter is damaged and/or not an original IBM product but misrepresented as being original.

thanks for input, I don't blame seller, but i think it may be a part which did not passed QC and found its way to some sellers as i purchased it from China where thinkpads are made now fo better or for worse If cage was compressed that would have effect on CD/DVD or battery as well, right?. as to how hard it slides, tell you I had to pull on this handle that hard that i was afraid, it will brake and I end up with this adapter inside forever and ever. once again thanks,

PEOPLE, I've see some non-genuine IBM Hdd adapters on eBay; from China.

Now, ther are about 1.5 cheaper, but! made from plastic.

That's exactly why I didn't buy it:
1) plastic doesn't conduct heat for sh**
2) you HDD may overheat and then you have a big broblem, not worth saving extra $10...

So make a right choice and buy only GENUINE IBM parts, such as batteries and peripherals

Cheers

I have the geniune HDD adapter and it is quite stiff coming in and out of the Ultrabay slot. Always think I am going to break the wee pull out tab.

I also have a genuine HDD adapter and it is a little harder that pulling out the optical drive but not enough that think it is going to break. I just got a second tray in the mail, will see if this one is any different. (shipped directly from Lenovo in China)
