Does anyone install Intel PROSet Generic software?

#1 Post by Oxleyrd » Tue Aug 24, 2004 12:02 am

My T42 has the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG network card. The reason I ask this question is that my school wireless configuration requires 802.1x enabled LEAP authentication, and with "Network Authentication" set to Open and "Data Security" set to NONE.

If I use IBM Access Connections to configure, there is no option NONE for "Data Security" (WHY? :(). I was struggling for quite long time already. I knew the Intel PROSet software for wireless might have that option (at least it works for 2100B network card).

Can I just install the Intel PROSet software and use it to configure my wireless connection? Is any conflict with the default installed drive? Is any impact for IBM Access Connections program?

Thanks for your help!

I installed PROSet on my T42p and it works just fine. I got an 2100 3B and didn't install Access Connections. I don't know if it's a good idea to intall PROSet and Access Connections at the same time.

The latest PROSet version for the 2100 is 7.1.3.0 - I used this package but for the 2200BG you can get PROSet directly from Intel.
