Bought a T42, few questions

#1 Post by Andy M » Tue Oct 03, 2006 2:39 pm

Hi guys im from the UK, bought what i believe is a US T42 as the keyboard is US layout (purchased a UK replacement one on ebay)

Nice laptop to replace my T30 however 2 problems.

The unit has an Intel PRO 2200BG wirless card installed and works ok, however the LED on the unit doesn't illuminate to indicate power to wifi.

Also using ThinkVantage access connections, i can connect to a network but after a minute or two, the wifi powers off as if i have pressed Fn and F5.
I can re-enable it and it powers off again after a minute or so.

Uninstalling ThinkVantage connections and using the windows wifi manager solves this.

Any info?
Cheers

i have done the same thing with AC, as it did the same thing. It never saved any of the settings i checked, so every time i restarted the comp or it came out of standby it would forget that I unchecked the USE WINDOWS WIRELESS CONFIGURATION MANAGER. So i just uninstalled AC because quite frankly it is a retarded piece of software in my opinion and only causes more problems than it solves.

I prefer to let windows to manage the wifi connections, I also don't use the IBM access connections.

But it is your choice to use it or not. :)

Updated the drivers and reinstalled AC

Its fine now, and a good piece of software as it allows me to change to other networks with different settings at the click of a button.
