Standby Not Working
Standby Not Working
Hi Guys,
Firstly sorry for all the questions just lately but as ive just got my t40 ive got lots of questions.
Im having problems with my standby, it goes in to standby fine (although it does seem to do it rather fast?) with the standby light on the LCD panel, but when i try to get back to windows it just reboots and doesnt recover from standby.
Anybody got any ideas? I dont think there is any hardware that could cause this but i have recovered by system back to factory and it is still the same. Rather annoying as i use standby alot.
Just incase it helps ive got the latest BIOS update and my machine type is 2373-42G
Thanks guys

Are you sure there isn't some software, such as a kernel level debugger or a low-level process, that is choking the resume from standby process? I tend not to really think that as it can enter stanby pretty fast as you say.
Does it do the same thing if you go into standby from the Fn+F4 combo and resume by hitting Fn or does this just happen when you go into standby by closing the lid? There are two different hardware handlers for that, and one of them might have a problem come resume time.

It sounds like an ACPI problem or, rather, lack thereof; but why is it still present even *after* a fresh factory install. Is everything, including all the drivers, updated to the latest version?
Other than that, or some *really* bizzare lw level process that hangs on resume, it points to the hardware.

I really can't think of anything else then. It might be hardware related, but I would find that very strange indeed.
The other thing you could do is to check the ACPI devices under the revice manager and see if they have values that, at least initially, make sense.
