Does anyone have a recommendation on a 2.0 USB upgrade for a 600X?

I would suggest a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card off of eBay. They are very cheap. HOWEVER, I would look for one that doesn't have the ports attached directly to the card, but rather through a dongle....this way you still have the ability to use a wireless card, if desired.

I agree. I did just that with a USB pcmcia card with the ports attached, though. It has 2 2.0 usb ports. Works fine.

Apricorn ez usb 2.0 is what I have and fits this description. Works pretty well as far as I can tell but I have yet to compare how fast an external hard disk drive can backup my system vs. USB 1.1.

Ron,

Can you provide the model number or a link that can direct to the seller?

Carlos.

I believe it was a generic pc card with floppy and manual. Let me check at home and get back to you. I know it was bought on Ebay.

You guys have had these work with external drives? Mine won't map to my USB drive caddy. Not a huge deal, since I have the mdeia slice and drive adapter, but I vaguely remember hearing this this couldn't be done.

Hi guys,

I recently looked into getting a PCMCIA USB 2 card to use in my T30 and T23, similiar idea to the 600X. I eventually selected a D-Link card, it was slightly more expensive than some of the cheaper options but seemed to review better. It works well, I have two slight annoyances/questions, but I think it's me being too picky.

1.) Does anyone know of a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card like this that doesn't pertrude out of the end of the laptop?

2.) Is is possible for a card like this, without additional power to power an external laptop harddrive in a caddy?

epbrown - This card worked fine with an external 3.5" hard drive in a caddy with of course its own power.

I can confirm for others than under Win. XP SP2 this device installed correctly as "plug and play" and also allows room to also say have a wireless card in the second PCMCIA card slot.
