well tried some ram spare ram from my t22 pc100 got into bios it states tis a 256 module so who no,s what to believe i have no display on panel so i have plugged into other port cpu is 1130
strangley the main panel flashes briefly but appears dead athough under strong light you can read stuff so maybe the the back tube has gone, as to the serial no in bios it is 26479lu787pr8a, does that make it a 2647 9lu well i am pretty thrilled so far idid wonder if main dispay required main ram to work and as it is reported incorrectly then thats the reason its dead .

OK, the fragmented statements were a little hard to understand, but let me see if I can get my head around this.

The T23 came as "dead". It appears that the ram just needed replacing, and the backlight appears to be out. I assume that you can test the backlight issue by connecting the T23 to an external monitor.

Yes, it would be a 9LU:
IBM/Lenovo wrote:Product: ThinkPad T23 2647-9LU [change]

After your second post, were there any questions? It sounds like you answered them with your second post.

in my t22 i have a new80gig which i would like to fit in the new t23 any advice as to the best way to maintain the os plus all my apps and files would be a bonus .

Well, if you got it working, then hooray for you on the great find. Its not often that someone sells a "dead" laptop, and have it be something that simple.

Although, I bought a "dead" T23 a few months back, and it was just the CMOS battery.

EDIT: Are you sure that there is a wireless card installed?

i am using the wired card to make internet connection at the moment as my main priority is to find a replacement for the back light if anyone see's one on ebay or no's of a uk supplier then great should find out if i have won ram later.

Check out lcdpart.com for the backlight. It will most likely run you about $9.99USD plus shipping. Overseas shipping is $13.99 instead of $9.99.

You can also send the LCD to them for the repair, if the task is too daunting for you (as it is for me, after breaking 2 different CCFLs).

i have fitted then broke the new tube , so tested the old one it still works i only got a 14 and a 13 now wish i had got several .
i will get there , it seems to suffer shorts to the stainless lcd frame which may help rex .
i fitted the 1.2g cpu plus the 1 gig of ram it really goes well i am 90% certain this is a xga panel although till its lit properly and stays on i can,t be certain (won another t23 on ebay ) .
the wifi on board works well 11mps only but feels speedy so thats good, wonder why ibm did not give a further cpu upgrade on the t23 models . ( now won a t30 cracked lcd with bluetooth).

can recommend your link lcdparts solid gold and cheap thanks
