Hi,
I just got a brand new IBM Thinkpad T60p the other day, but I'm having a slight problem. About once every 3-4 times or so, the keyboard wouldn't respond after startup. I would be able to get past the username/password prompt because of the fingerprint recognition that's built in, but then I wouldn't be able to type anything at all. I've made no updates to the software in the laptop since it's brand new. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like the keyboard cables might not be properly seated.
You can try removing the keyboard and then reseating the cable.
Here is the Hardware Maintenance Manual, to show you how to remove and replace the keyboard.
