I am using AC 4.12 on my T41p. I have used AC for years and it works pretty well for me, particularly since I learned its idiosyncracies over the years.
I use my laptop at several different locations on a given week, and I benefit from the Location Switching feature. Once I configure a particular profile, it is mapped to the MAC address (Lenovo-speak "saved port") of the router handling the RJ45 I plug into (Lenovo "new port detected ..."). The next time I plug in at this location, AC automatically recognizes it and applies the correct profile.
However, this functionality only seems to work when I use the default TCP/IP and DNS settings option (i.e., checkbox unchecked), which is DHCP. In some cases (like at home), I prefer to use a static IP address, which I must configure manually in a profile. AC lets me do this, but for some reason, the profile is not available for automatic Location Switching.
Has anyone run into this problem, and if so, do you know of a workaround?
Thanks!
Stu
