Backup woes

For some reason, R&R backup can't back up some files in the Webroot spysweeper directory. I have marked these to be excluded from backups, but R&R backup still insists on telling me they can't be backed up and asking me to ignore retry etc. I try to start a backup when I go to sleep, and 8 hours later, the screen is sitting there, asking me what to do with these files I already said i want to skip. What's the deal?

Since I got frustrated, I've tried using NTBackup instead, and it either doesn't start when I tell it to or gives me an error "End of Media encountered" even though I'm backing up to a hard drive with many gigs of free space available. If I try to run it manually, it tells me the disk is full, even though there are 29G available.
