Lenovo Business Hurt by Hackers

#1 Post by BillG » Mon Oct 09, 2006 12:34 pm

Chinese hackers, apparently backed by the Chinese government, have been attacking U.K. and U.S. government websites.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/10/09 ... attack_us/

"The planned purchase of 18,000 computers manufactured by Lenova in China by the [U.S.] State Department was blocked after legislators raised national security concerns, AFP reports."
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered!

IMHO, they are referring (quite akwardly) to their story: "US State Dept pulls Lenovo PCs"
But after Congress' US-China Economic and Security Review Commission expressed concerns that the equipment could be used for espionage - worries Wolf communicated to the US Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice - the State Department removed any Lenovo-made PCs from networks that could be used to access classified data.
But I still can't see what this has got to do with chinese "hackers" attacking US computers.

Not only is that story old, but it also lacks credibility...the writer doesn't even know how Lenovo is spelt.

Lenovo T61, 6458-AB1
