The article notes that the IE7 "containment wall" protected mode will not be available on XP, but only to those who purchase Vista.

I think everyone can use what he wants, I understand people that use FireFox really well.

but there is no reason to doom the new IE7 at all, either. there is no reason to avoid it or not to install it BESIDES firefox

Well there is one reason to avoid IE7: some of the more complicated websites don't work 100% with it yet.

Personally, I prefer Firefox, but I have to install IE7 so I can make sure the company websites are working on the internet browser more than 80% of computer users use.

If you want to avoid "high-priority" updates, as well as WGA, use http://windizupdate.com for your windows updates.

Hi

I preffer Firefox2 with Adblock,and IE Tab which allows me to browse IE pages as well.
IMHO Firefox2 is much faster and secure than IE.

What a hoot...the packaging almost looks legit. If Microsoft's attorneys actually work on weekends, I doubt that site will be up beyond next Monday.

You can opt to not use IE 7 if you wish. It is recommended because IE is integrated into Windows. Because of this, Microsoft labels it as an update. If you have automatic updated enabled, and it hasn't updated yet, then you can simply change the auto update option to allow to chose what updates you want to install. This way you can choose if you want to update to IE 7 or not.

Personally, I recommend Firefox 2.0. It runs great on all of my computers and best of all, it is compatible form Windows 98SE and up. IE 7 will only work with Windows XP SP2 (because it needs the WGA program to install which was put in SP2).
