Bluetooth Issues with new Palm Treo 700wx

#1 Post by CrazyJeeper » Tue Oct 10, 2006 6:52 pm

Well, it's been a while since I last posted here, but here's my issue. I just recently bought a Pal Treo 700wx (Sprint) and when I have my computer scan for the Palm, it loacates it but doesn't find any services connected with the Palm. Prior to my Palm, I had a PPC-6700 and when I had my computer scan for the PPC-6700, it found "Bluetooth Modem....." which allowed me to use my phone as a modem. Before I go further, my laptop is a 2379-DXU and I havn't touched the bluetooth software since the day I bought it. Are there any bluetooth updates? I also can't seem to get my Holux GPslim236 to pair up with my comp along with my Motorola HS810 bluetooth headset. The only things that seemed to work ok are my bluetooth mouse and my PPC-6700 as a bluetooth wireless dial up network. I have tried searching and searching and searching but can't seem up come up with the right answer. Help will be greatly appreciated.

Windows Mobile 5 just like my Palm Treo 700wx. It's just that my lappy doesn't recognize any profiles from my Treo.

This what i did when i got my cingular 8125, first i updated my bluetooth software via software installer then i delete any previous pairing/and modems i had installed in the lappy.

After that do a scan for devices and pair your device.

For the modem go directly to the phone and modems options in the control panel, select the modem tab then go to add when the computer is looking for the modem change the phone and modem to all devices. There you lappy will see the actual phone as a modem.

I hope this helps. :)

Use this unless you have Windows XP Service Pack 1. You can check by going to > Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information. Second line down is the version of Windows.
Integrated Bluetooth II software for Windows 98 SE/2000/XP - ThinkPad R40, R50/p, R51 (1829, 1830, 1831, 1836), T40/p, T41/p, T42/p, X31, X40

Use this if you are still running Windows XP Service Pack 1.
Microsoft Bluetooth Support file for the Integrated Bluetooth III for Windows XP Service Pack 1 - ThinkPad R51 (Models 1829, 1830, 1831, 1836 only), T42/p, X40

Follow the installation instructions for either version.

The only software that i use in my T40 is the IBM B/T III drivers nothing more.

Ok, I think I found the software on IBM's web site and installed it per their instructions. Now, from what I understand, the widcomm's driver is the better one. However, I now have 2 bluetooth icons in the system tray...is that right?

Yes, but you can remove one. Just right click on the start buttom/properties/ then go to taskbar/customise.

There you can select which icons do you want to appear in the taskbar.
