Hello,

Which external DVD burner do you recommend for a T23?

I would recommend replacing your current ultrabay drive with an aftermarket one. Any of the drives discussed in this thread will work:

You will need the rails and connectors from your current drive to put on the new drive. You also will need to cut a notch in the lower right corner of the new faceplate.

An external burner will require a faster connection, either high speed usb2.0 or firewire, which you will have to add with a pcmcia card.

There's a lot of Ultra Bay 2000 DVD-RW floating on ebay. Just plug and play.....what's the aftermarket benefits?

Price, about $40 cheaper. You also know you are getting high quality NEC or Pioneer burners.

Hello. Does anyone have the part# for the Ultra Bay 2000 DVD R/W?
Also, do you need a chassis or anything else to install this drive in a T23 which has an internal DVD/CD-W?
