I don't know about the T60, but in my T42 there is a Fn key lock setting in the BIOS. I am not sure what you could do about the volume keys.

I found a FN lock in the key manager but it is just to lock the Fn key down so that it is always on.

Try ThinkPad(R) Keyboard Customizer Utility.
"Use this utility to customize your ThinkPad and external keyboards and to assign common functions to key combinations so that you can get the most out of your ThinkPad computer."...

did not see a way to disable any buttons, it is just to give buttons like the volume and thinkvantage another set of keys to access them.

For some of the buttons, there isn't really too much you can do to alter their behavior. You could also try uninstalling the HotKey manager and that willl eliminate some of the Fn Combos, but not the Fn key itself and, hence, nothing like the Brightness/Contrast controls or the ThinkLight combo; I also have a very useful keyboard modification utility I downloaded from somwhere, I will try and see if that helps. :)

what keyboard modifier do you use? I have yet to find one that can mod the Fn key...

To my knowledge, there isn't one. This is because the Fn key has special hardware such that certain combos, such as the Fn+PgUP=ThinkLight Toggle, go straight through the BIOS an work independent of OS; that is also why it works in stuff besides Windows and during bootup before Windows loads. It also is the only key hardwired on the keyboard proper you can press that will bring the Thinkpad out of the suspend sleep state.

Other combos, however, require either a hotkey manager or a poller for their proper, full operation; like the Fn+F5 combo. It will work without them, but it will simply toggle the WiFi and/or Bluetooth on and off together very simply and it won't bring up something like the ThinkVantage GUI. :)
