570E 570 lcd panel switch

#1 Post by cure » Thu Oct 12, 2006 8:33 pm

I have a 570E with a dodgy screen (a dark patch) and slightly loose hinges. And I have a 570 with a good screen and good hinges.

Evidently, I am going to attempt a switch. My thinking is that pulling out the lcd unit with the hinges is the way to go. Alternatively, I could switch the mothers and so forth.

Anyone with experience do this? Any thoughts?

Thanx.

It should work just fine. If you're worrided about messing anything up, then make sure to read the hardware maintenance manual (listed in the FAQ) before doing anything.

Switch of lcd's worked perfectly. Unplugging the keyboard is not necessary. The most difficult part is unsnapping and resnapping the bezel next to the power switch. It takes patience. The bezel's of the 570 and 570E are slightly different. But a tiny bit of cutting fixes that.
