#1 Post by atwaj » Fri Oct 13, 2006 6:57 pm

What stuff can I get that will work on my machine to watch TV. I have a DVD Drive in it and can watch DVD Movies, but I would also like to be able to watch TV, with Remote Control....

Funny you should ask this question since I ran into something along those lines about an hour ago...

What I found was a PCMCIA (PC Card) adapter which receives TV and FM radio. However, the system requirements are Windows XP/2000 and a minimum 900Mhz CPU. Perhaps there may be other cards like this one:

that can run on older operating systems and slower processors.

(edit: Added Windows 2000 as minimum requirement per eBay description)

casual research seems to show in general that the USB solution superior to the PCMCIA solution, and in particular:

system requirements

* PC with a Pentium processor (166MHz MMX minimum)
* Windows 98SE, WindowsMe, Windows2000 or WindowsXP
* USB 1.1 port
* sound card
* CD-ROM driver to load the software

swag requirements $$$:-)

keep us posted, please: my 600e is the 366mHz version and I've been wondering....

Never thought to go the USB route... I figured that the USB 1.1 speeds available on the 600E/600X won't support video all that well. I will alter my search for an FM receiver capable of decoding RDS signals from PCMCIA equipment to USB. Thanks Tom!
