WIRELESS

#1 Post by SPENCE » Sat Oct 14, 2006 7:22 pm

EXCUSE THE CAPS. MUCH EASIER FOR ME TO READ AND TYPE. FOR 55 YEARS.

CAN THE WIRELESS BE SOFTWARE UPGRADED FROM WEP TO WPA OR WPA2 ON T-42 WITH BUILT IN WIRELESS?

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

I believe that the T42 should already support WPA, at least Access Connections on it does depending on your card, but I do not know about the ability to upgrade it to WPA2. :)

You have the IBM/Atheros 802.11a/b/g wireless MPCI for it, right?

Have you tried setting up a connection to an access point with it yet? Access Connections, as well as the card, should have support for it. It appears in the wizard that AC's uses to setup a connection.

That is the card I have. It supports WPA (not WPA2). It works *perfectly* with Access Connections. ... JD Hurst
