Disable the xxxx system beep!

#1 Post by devilsrejection » Sun Oct 15, 2006 5:10 am

I can't seem to kill this [censored] beep whenever I change the volume, or an alert pops up.

I even disabled the sound card!

Fresh install which means latest drivers.

Note from Moderator: No cursing in the subject line, and keep it to a minimum elsewhere.

installed tweak-ui, under general, unticked "beep on errors" and now everything is grand.

took me a while to figure that out!

That beep is customizable under the Sound Properties, and is controllable by the volume control. So if you can't control it normally, but can disable it via PowerToys, then something else is amiss with your system.

To disable speaker volume control beep, on Desktop right-click on;

->Properties
->Settings
->Advanced
->On Screen Display

uncheck the box next to "Speaker Volume Control beep"

Click on OK.
