Ultrabay 2000 data rate

#1 Post by smd » Sun Oct 15, 2006 4:20 pm

When using a second hard disk in a T30 using the Ultrabay 2000 HDD adapter, is data transfer as fast as it is to the system disk?

I would assume it to be, all else being equal. The IDE controller should see any device in the Ultrabay 2000 adapter as being connected to the secondary IDE channel. There are some settings in Hardware Manager that you may need to inspect/change as to the type of interface it is using, though. By default is should autodetect and give you the best speed. Of course your disk drives themselves will have a major impact as to the data transfer, but if you are using the same type of drive in both slots, then I don't expect you to see any difference between them.

A point of reference: I just cloned one Toshiba MK6026GAX 60GB drive (20GB data) from my 1.13Ghz T23 Ultrabay onto the system 60GB HD (Hitachi IC25N060ATMR04). The 20GB of data transferred in 15 minutes using Ghost.
