T60P won't boot up

#1 Post by sifuallan » Mon Oct 16, 2006 3:30 pm

I try to boot my laptop up and it doesn't boot up at all. All I get are a few beeps.

It always goes in a sequence when I try to boot up like this:

1 beep
4 beeps
1 beep
1 beep

Any idea???

I don't know what that beep code means, but here is what I would try:

1. Disconnect EVERYTHING from your computer. All USB ports, etc. Try to boot.
2. If you've added memory lately, try removing it
3. Remove the AC power supply and battery and hold the power putton down for about 30 seconds. Put the battery back in and try to re-boot.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

The Hardware Maintenance Manual has the beep codes. You can download a copy and check. I do not have a copy for the T60p since I do not have that model ThinkPad.
