T60p: does CPU frequence step down correcly

#1 Post by kse13e » Tue Oct 17, 2006 4:43 am

Hi

I have noticed a starnge behaviour of my T60p:

1. If I set "adaptive" CPU speed in the Power Settings then my CPU never gows beyond 2.16 GHz (as it is reported by MyComputer->Properties) which is the highest frequency for the processor
2. If I select "low" CPU speed the MyComputer->Properties window shows that CPU Freq is 994 MHz, but all the CPU speed detection programs show that the real speed is still 2.16 GHz

Does anybody know if it should it be like that?

Dynamic freq switching never worked for me. Neither on my T43p nor on my T60p. It does work with NHC though.

I have the same impression. What is NHC?

CPU-Z reports that my processor steps down correctly on a T60p 2623-DDU.

You are confused (or confusing)....

The behavior you described is normal.

Your machine can't run faster than 2.13MHz and the "step-down" speed is half that speed. The "true" speed of the CPU is the rated speed (2.13) so the information you were seeing is correct.

So, from your posting, it seems you misunderstand what's happening with your machine (that is, you expect it to be different) or I'm misunderstanding something.

Try setting the machine to "Maximum Performance" which should keep the CPU running at 2.13 all the time whether it is on battery or plugged in.
