Recovery CDs for Download?

#1 Post by t20user » Tue Oct 17, 2006 11:09 am

Has anyone seen the recovery CDs on a filesharing site? Im not sure it is legal, but then again you should only be able to use them on the machine made for them. It would be nice if IBM had them on their site, athough micro$oft might not like that.

I've been looking for a set of them on the P2P and Torrent networks, but haven't found any as of yet. Yes, It would be VERY nice to have IBM post the images on thier website.

Don't think that is going to happen, they charge around $50 US for them. You have to order them. Try posting in the market place and see if someone can help ya'll out :)

Hi,

I am wondering the same. My T43 is not recoverable and since it came without the restore CDs I'm at a loss how to reconfirgure it. IBM's support desk here in Vietnam is refusing to provide the CDs althrough I still have 2 years left on the warranty :(

Any advise where to get the disks is appreciated. The easiest of course was to download them somewhere but so far I have searched without success. The notebook was purchased in the US but I am not in the US anymore.

Thanks

Try posting your request in the marketplace forum. Are you in Vietnam now? :?

Recommendation: Buy a new HDD and put it into your T43 and bring it down to the support centre and borrow their r & r disks and after you burn the images into your new HDD, go and buy some empty CDs and go home and create your own r & r disks. :-)

USER EDIT: Your post should be in the T4X forum.

Hi NS,

WOW....now that was a fast reply! Thanks a lot.
I found this post by searching for similar topics do excuse me for using the wrong forum.

Yes, I am currently in Saigon. Since I have (had?) rather sensitive data on my disk I don't want to leave them my notebook for reinstalling.

I will try your idea and see how it goes. The funny thing is that after I received my notebook initially I did immediately burn a restore CD using the IBM utility but when trying to use it now it interupts always with an error message and says cannot find data.
After that it restarts and goes straight into restore mode.

It might be the problem with your CD.

That's why i recommend users to buy quality CDs to burn your R & R disks. Use those cheap CDs for your music or some other unimportant files/documents. Never never use cheap CDs to store your IBM R & R files. <--unreliable.
