T43 Keyboard locks up

#1 Post by tumed » Wed Oct 18, 2006 12:15 am

Hi everyone,
I've been having this problem for a while now. At what seems to be random moments, my keyboard stops working. I can be in the middle of typing, and the keys stop responding. However, some keys still work, like access IBM, and I can press Fn+F4, to enter sleep mode. After waking it up from sleep mode, most of the time, the keyboard works...but who knows for how long (it can be as short as a few keystrokes to several paragraphs). The built-in mouse also does not respond. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you checked the keyboard's connection? :)

No I have not checked the keyboard connection. I can do that.

I did find out that "Touchpad is disabled from BIOS". When I go to ThinkPad Configuration Trackpoint and Touchpad are on automatic, yet they don't work.

Thanks.

The TouchPad shouldn't be a problem, though.

It could be that the keyboard layout in Windows is off, as well. You might want to check that first. :)

In the Control Panel, open the Regional and Language Settings *.CPL, then go to the "Languages" tab and click "Details..."

It should show the current layout that is in use on your keyboard. It should say "English (United States) - US" :)

Thanks.
