That store is sorta on my way to work... I've been there before to pick up odds-and-ends. I'll try to go there tomorrow and see if they have any left.

I just bought 3 of them. Hopefully, this place is legit and that they still have them in stock.

How could that possibly be for real? Granted it's cheap enough to take that risk..

Which is why I ordered 3 of them. Small risk. With using my credit card, I have excellent protection if they try to use my information.

I figure that the $32 that I spent on 3 batteries is certainly worth it, since that is pretty much less than what you would pay for 1 battery on eBay.

When you get them in, let us know what the capacity is - their page says "higher than OEM", but doesn't state a number.

I may just keep that link handy in case the one I'm using dies...

Dropped by Surplus Computers about 20 minutes ago and the battery in the display case said $40. It did not appear to have the battery capacity on the outside of the box although I did find some published specs on-line:

http://www.cdromshop.com/cdshop/desc/p. ... 03202.html

Xtend B320 battery for IBM 600/E/X rated at 3600mAH (original is 3200mAH I believe). I have also seen a couple of other references to 3200 and 4500mAh at various web sites. I did NOT bring up the subject of the $3.99 ad (which it appears now has been pulled since the original link is dead), but it looks obvious that this was a typo.

There was only one in the display case that the salesman opened for me. As I indicated in my previous post, the original link is dead (just takes you to the main page instead of the battery). Searching the site for B320 or IBM 600 battery yielded nothing.

BTW, there was a T23 1.13G/256M/??G in pretty decent condition that was marked down from $800 to $379. I think it came with an install of Windows but can't be sure. I'm wasn't too interested in that model as I've become obsessed with only certain versions :) .

3600mah is good. My batteries are 3200mah. Of course, we all know the stories of third party batteries exploding, so...

I don't think that it was a typo. They have a lot of items on there that are almost ridiculously cheap. They have a lot of liquidation items. See all the things that they have here. If these batteries do arrive as promised, I might be picking up a few more things from them.

That's an understatement! You wouldn't believe some of the things I've seen in there over the years. The inventory seems to change from week to week as stuff is put on racks and sold. There are surplus electronic parts, tools, toys, software, monitors, computers, chips (potato, as well as integrated). They run the retail store adjacent to a huge warehouse so I can only imagine what else is behind the wall. If you ever see anything in particular that you want me to check out, just holler. It's not too far out of the way on my commute to work.

Well, they arrived safe and sound today. They appear to be brand new third party batteries, sealed in individual boxes. I'm very impressed.

I will hopefully get a chance to test one out tonight and see what kind of time XP reports.

cheap batteries

#16 Post by RRHODY » Thu Oct 26, 2006 5:48 pm

I bought two and they are now here. They are wrapped as if new and marked ROADWARRIOR
Rating 10.8V 3600mAh
This on a silver label covering original label.
The first one is in my 600X being charged.
I intend to do the three charge three run down and then test them with the IBM 600 battery check program.
If looks mean anything, they appear to be a real bargain.

I got to test one of mine this morning, after charging it all night.

When i first pulled the plug, windows reported 2:41, then all of a sudden it jumped to 3:24, so I am guessing that it ill last about 3 hours.

Hey, what does that say? S.....O.....N......Y.....boom

Well, d@mn! Maybe I should of asked the salesman about the price marked on the display case box and the $3.99 offer on the web site. I've still got the 600X systems that could always use extra juice and the external battery chargers to keep them topped off... hmm... maybe I'll re-visit them tomorrow and see if they have any left.

(edit: Didn't see the flash of light from WI, but estimating the distance between San Jose, CA and WI, knowing the speed of sound in ft/sec.... I should be hearing a BOOM in about 135 minutes or so...)

By the way, it was $6.99, not $3.99.

Wait for it....

boom! boom! boom! boom! boom! boom!

There it is! 6 tiny sounds from Wisconsin! (one for each cell :) )

Alas, before getting to work this afternoon, I went by Surplus Computers and asked about the batteries. They were very quick to reply that they're all sold out and don't expect any more to arrive. Bummer. :(

Sounds like you guys got a pretty good deal (miniature, ticking, timebombs notwithstanding :) ).
