I swapped my 40GB 5400 Fujitsu drive with a 7K60 7200 Hitachi Travelstar. I got amazingly SLOOOW transfer speeds (14MB/s Sisioft Sandra).
I transfered the system with Casper XP and I also tried a clean install of windows (with that it came ot to 8 MB/sec).
Anyone ever experienced such a thing or I simply have a defective drive.
No, it is not in PIO mode, yes, the drive cache is on... and the system should be the same with a hard drive copy anyway. I have the newest embedded controller (3.03) for my T40p.
I got so frustrated I RMAd the drive and wait for the new one. As far as my experience goes there is nothing needed for a HDD swap, just a screwdriver. Am I right or I am missing something?
Thanks, Erik
7K60 SLOOOOWw ???!!!
Re: 7K60 SLOOOOWw ???!!!
Definitely something wrong, in DMA mode my 7200 drive is usually 35-40 MB/sec. Let's see what the new drive is like...
