t60p: upper part of the laptop right side 'moving'

#1 Post by amo » Wed Oct 18, 2006 2:34 pm

Just to make sure: the thin part , up the palmrest, that is on top of the DVD burner, moves slightly on my t60p, when my hand rests on it. I've just noticed that today. The plam rest is fine, but the part where it ends, just above it (in siretion of the screen), moves. I was wondering if there could be a screw not tight enough, or if it is a normal thing. Feels a bit weirs, no show stopper though..

Sorry for the not so clear description, English is not my mother tongue and I'm a bit too tired to find the right words.

BTW: I just love my T60p, no doubt. Only checking about others...

Regards,
Amaury

Turn your system over and make sure that there are screws in the screw holes.

If you (or someone else) opened up your system to add memory or replace the keyboard, maybe some screws got left out.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, that's what I checked first - I did upgrade the memory myself - but all the 4 screws are there and tight. I see no other screw in that region. It is not the palm rest but the next part, above it, on the right hand side, that moves. I never noticed it before yesterday so I thought of asking: does it move for everybody, or did I do something wrong?

Amaury

I used strips of adhesive backed foam to pad up all of the areas of my T60p that were shifting around. It's held up well for the past several months. I'm not sure if it will help in the area that you describe as I'm not sure "what lies beneath", but I though I'd throw it out there.
T'Pad 600e, 770x, A20p, A21p, A30p, A31p (2653-H3U), T43p (2668-Q2U) & T60p (2623-DDU)...it's an addiction.
