slow login after installing access connections 4.12

#1 Post by skanky » Wed Oct 18, 2006 2:35 pm

i've got a x31 and installed a intel 2100B mini pci card from my t42 (so i know theres nothing wrong with the card and it deffo works as it came with the t42 from the factory so no 1802 needed) and got the drivers installed from system update.

rebooted and then i installed access connectons using the system update and ever since logging in (put password in, dialog box disappears) takes a lifetime to get to the desktop.

if i remove AC, then its fine, logging in takes about 15 seconds. install AC then it takes upwards of 1-2 mins to get to the desktop. the option that "allows wireless connection at logon" is disabled.

same result with WZC enabled or disabled. the wireless works (using it right now!) but with a infuriatingly slow login when its installed AC..

using xp sp2, any ideas?

at the same time i upgraded the t42 to a ibm 2200bg, installed the drivers using system update, rebooted, installed AC, reboot, it then errors out when trying to create a new profile even if i choose to use wired adapter/wireless card/both. cant remember the exact code it errors out with though, google'd it and nothing.

wireless connection works, but want AC's automatic switching between wired/wireless connection.

reinstalling windows will probably fix it but i dont want to at the moment incase the above (slow login) problem rears it head too!

suggestions?

edit: heres the error on the t42:

ACMainGUI.exe - Application Errors
"The exception unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occurs in the application at location 0x0903b945"

edit2: i've now installed AC v3.82 and the matching 2200bg driver, works a treat. wonder why the latest drivers dont work.

hmm i wonder if 3.82 will help the x31 too..
