Administrator password set on laptop

#1 Post by DAN-O77 » Wed Oct 18, 2006 3:38 pm

Hello all,
I have an IBM thinkpad T42p laptop in which the administrator password was set on it by a former employee. I cannot get into the IBM recovery console without the password. Is there anyway around this or a way to reset the password or clear the password?

Let the IT department at your company handle it. Any chance that you can get a hold of your former employee?

Well I am part of the IT deptartment here. We normally do not support the IBM thinkpads, only HP products. No way of getting a hold of the former employee. I have ran this past a lot of the IT people here at our company and no luck. They suggested this site.

I understand. There are products/services in eBay that claim to be able to remove this password:
http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Thinkpad-Superv ... dZViewItem
That seller is pretty reputable too.

Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out.

Regards.

For your own sake, don't use his services on ebay "tpads-plus".
Second biggest jerk in my life I had to deal with (first one would be my step-dad)...
