T42 screen not as bright after repair

#1 Post by tigerguy » Fri Oct 20, 2006 7:01 am

Just got my T42 back from a local repair shop and strangely my screen is not as bright as it was before I turned it in. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I know it's my screen because I recognized some of the same smudges. I swear it's not as bright! My brightness meter is turned all the way up.

My wife also said she noticed it's not as bright. I checked the battery power meter and it says it set on "High System Performance" but when I plug it into an A/C outlet, the screen gets brighter! Any ideas?!?

Called my local repair shop. The tech said he had to change my bios settings back to default due to complexities in changing my failing fan, which in turn changed my battery settings. Hence, my screen was darker.

You can change it in the BIOS or with ThinkPad Configuration. Normal dims the display when on battery power. High does not dim the display when on battery power. This is independent of the Power Scheme settings.
