Z61's with Core 2 on Lenovo site..

#1 Post by seeplus » Fri Oct 20, 2006 3:07 pm

Including z61p models 9450-AIU (with "n" wifi) and 9452-JRU (with regular a/b/g/ networking.)

Though it appears that if you want the 2.33 Core 2 Duo, you have to settle for a 1280x800 wxga, while the systems above have 2.0 Core 2's and 1920x1200 panels.

I just configured a Z61P with the 2.33 Core 2 and it ended up being a Z61e... Although the overall config is rather nice. Has anyone seen the 1920x1200 screen in comparion to the T60p 1600x1200 Flexview?

I saw the same thing; the 1920x1200 configurations are available over the phone.

I was sold after seeing a friend's 15" T60p IPS, and was about to order one from CDW (they still have them in stock,) but found that I could get a more powerful machine (with an Atheros "N" card, c2duo, wuxga, firewire, and SD reader) for the same price in the refresh of the z61p. I'll let you know how they compare in ~2 weeks.

Yes, please let us know. I am thinking about getting a laptop with WUXGA resolution but am a little concerned that the text would be too small. 15" UXGA, which is what my A31p has, is fine for me, but the text on a 15.4" WUXGA will be quite a bit smaller.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

Text on WUXGA will be about the same as UXGA.

WUXGA 15.4" = 1920x1200
UXGA 15" = 1600x1200

WUXGA just adds horizontal resolution with the extra 0.4" of horizontal screen space.

Not quite as simple as that: the screen size is a diagonal measurement. The 15.4" wide screen is 1.05" wider but 0.85" lower than the 15" 4:3 display. As a result, the density goes from 133 dpi to 147 dpi.

Happens to the best of us ... but after countless years my B.Math came in handy  with a little help from Excel for the detailed numbers!

My partner has a Dell with the WUXGA and it is a bit smallre then my A31P with UXGA but ok if your used to UXGA. My concern in the lack of a flexview screen. The Dell screen looks horrible in comparison to my A31P...

I've used a T43p 15" UXGA and currently have a Z61m WSXGA+. I find the text on the Z61m perfectly fine for my 23 year old eyes (I have great eyesight, but it is declining slightly from my teen's...) until I put it on my desk setting about 2 feet in front of me. At that point it strains my eyes soemwhat, which is why I hooked up my Dell 20" ;)

I'll have a Z61p WUXGA soon, I'll let you know how that is
