local area connection icon in taskbar

#1 Post by ibmuser » Fri Aug 27, 2004 10:37 am

I'm using a mini pci a/b/g adapter for internet connections. For some reason a icon appears in my taskbar with a red X indicating that the ethernet network cable is unplugged. How do I remove the icon?
I have the "show icon" box unchecked under network connections for the local area cable connection.

This is purely a Windows thing.
That always has annoyed me a little, too. That option "show icon in taskbar when connected" doesn't change the fact that the icon is displayed when not connected. :?

You have to disable the ethernet Local Area Connection in order to get rid of the icon. There may be some registry edit, but I thought I had searched for one with no luck.
