Now that SP2 is coming up through WindowsUpdate.....

Whats the consensus, if it aint broke dont fix it? :)

Seems to be mixed success on Thinkpads from what i've seen.... I've been using SP2 on my desktop for 2 weeks now without a single issue, but i would hate to screw up my lappy, being that its vitally important to me.

aphex, I agree with you. I've had to restored my Thinkpad T30 three times over the last week and the last time right after upgrading with the Windows Update to SP2...it wouldn't even boot up after that!

I'm very concerned, but at the same time, I was running some other software which might have interfered, which has since been removed from my system, so it's hard to tell if it's a huge concern or not.

Before I do upgrade, I'm planning on Ghosting my HDD so just in case the upgrade doesn't work I'll have a clone of the original...but at the present time, I'm still holding off.

I have a T42P and installed XP2 online just for the sake of curiosity, when the auto update popped up. The installation was straighe forward and I have not experienced anything wrong so far. XP2 blocks a lot of pop up windows during my web surfing and I like it.

i installed it when it was available to developers a few weeks ago
havent had any trouble

the biggest improvement is the new networking tweaks
i love how the taskbar icons tell me whats going on and how it animates when its connecting and stuff... windows wireless management is also new and works pretty well (although there can still be improvments) and its a breze to use now.

other than that, i just disbaled all the new built in security features
