New R60: Very slow boot-up

#1 Post by bikemaniac » Thu Oct 26, 2006 6:02 am

I recently bought a brand new R60. However it is very slow at booting WinXP Pro even though I haven't installed any programs yet. When looking at Taskmanager I see many many applications running!!! Do I need to change something in msconfig or regedit? I really wanna speed up the laptop. Anyone having some suggestions or advice? Maybe a link to a nice recipe for optimizing a thinkpad laptop?

regards, lucas jensen

PS: Another question. When I'm sitting next to my friends macbook, he can see more wireless networks than I can!! How come?? Are do Thinkpads have such a bad range?

I've a R60 too and disabled a lot of processes. You might want to check out my post about the processes I still run.

Even with disabled processes there show up quite a lot of them in system manager. But that's also because of the lenovo/ibm "tools" like hard drive protection...
