Connecting issues T41p and SMC2804WBR
Hi everyone,
another issue arose a few moments ago. I tried to connect my T41p with its IBM 802.11a/b/g card to my SMC2804WBR WLAN Router. I am using WPA and Access Connections. All works fine at first, but my notebook doesn't get an IP-Address from the DHCP-Server. I have another Acer Travelmate 801Lci in the network and an X23 with PC-Card WLAN Adapter. They all use WPA and get an IP-Address, except for the T41p.
Is I use WEP all is fine.
Are there any known compatibility problems?
Thanks,
Christian

Did you enable DHCP server in the router? Check the MAC address filter, Firewall>MAC Filter.
On your laptop, make sure you enable "obtain ip address automatically" under the TCP/IP setting.
If the above don't work, you could connect the laptop to the router with an ethernet cable, to check if it's a wireless problem or not. disable WPA and give it a try.
Oh, yeah, don't forget to download the latest firmware for SMC and drivers for IBM.

cbell says when connecting with WEP all is fine, it's just WPA that doesn't work.
Which version of Access Connections are you using?
I don't have that wlan card, but I know that some people are recommending the Atheros Client Utility for the IBM a/b/g WiFi card.

You can do a search here for "Atheros Client Utility" to find more info (that's all I did, btw
