Thinkpad A31 trouble shooting

My A31 which I purchased recently originally booted but now does not respond to the on button. With the adapter attached the battery light just clicks and flashes but will not boot or stop flashing. I do not have battery installed? What should I do.

Though I haven't received a direct reply I see that "Sticky" has addressed a somewhat similar battery related bios problem. Is there a solution for clearing the bios similar to the desktops where you can move a jumper?
