I upgraded my Ultranav wizard and driver for my R40 WinXP, and it appears randomly after rebooting(while I already checked the "show Unav icon on system tray off"). Like sometimes when I start my computer, it appears, then I remove it by pressing right click on it. And afterwards it does not appear, however after a few rebootings it appears again. Yet if I dont remove it, the following rebootings it may not appear...

On my T40 ultranav icon always flashes upon reboot but then disappears. Try make it to stay in tray first, that is check box "show icon in system tray". Then reboot confirm icon is staying is systray and now uncheck "show icon" box. May help. If not uninstall driver using ThinkPad software installer and then install it again.

I'm not quite following. Do you want it appear or not? Anyway, in my case I don't. This what I do to turn it off. First it should appear after you install a new driver. Now go to the control panel under the mouse applet if I remember correctly. You should see an option to turn it on or off. Click on it to make sure it is ON and hit apply. Do click on it even the option is selected or not. This is to make sure it coincides with the icon in the tray. Once you know for sure it's on, now you can go ahead and turn it off. This time it will be off for good.
