help about T43's cd-rw/dvd drive reading CD problem

My friend's CD-RW/DVD drive can't read CD installation disks. But reading DVD disk is ok.

the ultrabay is HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4242 N (Hitachi LG digital storage).

Does anyone have similar problem?
