Bye-bye Wi-Fi light, DVD+R fix

#1 Post by mmmkay » Sun Oct 29, 2006 4:02 am

In the second day of owning this refurbed R40, I got a nice deal on a brand new Intel 2200BG miniPCI card.

After hacking the CMOS settings with the bootable CD, the thinkpad booted up nicely, and now I have a faster net connection :)

However the light doesn't work anymore. Does anyone know if you have an IBM branded card does the light function? I'm not sure if the 2200BG is on the whitelist of the BIOS though.

Also if the DVD-ROM/CD-RW doesn't read DVD+R it's probably cos the firmware needs to be updated too :) At least, mine did. The latest firmware adds DVD+R support. Just in case no one realized that, or some how stumbled on this post wondering...
