New thinkpad series based on Alviso/Sonoma, when ??

Seems like in june intel was predicting the Alviso chipset for Q1 of 2005, but recent rumours have it that it could still be Q4 of 2004. Now taking it is Q4, when would we potentially expect those new series thinkpads. A Quarter is three months, and it might be somewhere in that periode I want to buy, but I don't like buying just before the new series comes out as then I have an old product from the start (you actually always have that with the PC, but in this case the feeling would be worse) and there would be some price changes to come up too !!
Do any of you have a clue on when that might be, maybe some insiders info, or more detailed sources than the ones I came across (http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2004A ... 026479.htm) ?

In the words of John Carmack: "It's done when it's done." I really don't think anyone here can give you a certain date - my best guess is late January or early February of 2005 for new machines.

Intel already has 2 of the 3 Sonoma elements in position: the Dothan Pentium M (since last May) and just recently, the Intel A/B/G wireless part. It all depends on when Intel finishes the 915PM and GM chipsets.
