Switching Hard Drives

#1 Post by Fred Mertz » Tue Oct 31, 2006 9:16 am

My old A20m died from a bad system board and and i was able to procure an A20p to replace it however it has no HD/OS.I would like to take the old HD from A20m and put it in the A20p.I have never done this before and I want to do it the right way.Can someone give me a step by step instruction on this. This a great board with so many knowledgable people it make it so much easier for novices like me.I have learned a lot and it is much appreciated.

You should be able to pull the HD out of the dead machine and insert it in the running one. Go to this page and get any drivers you need for the a20p. It looks like the video is the only thing you'll need to install.
Hopefully nothing happened to the HD in the machine that died.

If you click on the FAQ link below go to the Lenovo site and download a Hardware Maint Manual and it will show you how to remove the HD.

Usually recovery CD's span a number of models within a series, I would say yes. If they are the factory cut CD's there will be some info on them as to which models they pertain to.
