Z61P old vs new model

#1 Post by christopherjpreston » Wed Nov 01, 2006 1:57 am

Need some advice. I am looking at two Z61P laptops. The old one comes with core duo T2500, 802.11 a/b/g and the new one comes with core 2 duo T7600 and 802.11 a/b/g/ MIMO. The difference in price is $1050 USD. The rest of the specs appear to be the same.

My question is.. are there any other differences between the Z61P original and "new" model other than what I have mentioned. If not, isn`t it much better for me to buy the older model then buy a core 2 duo chip and I will save a whole lot of money. I can see the same savings for a T60p between the old and new model.

Am I missing something?
Thanks

I think those are most of the differences.. the new one also has only one stick of memory (1gb) instead of 2x512, and the new one comes with a 9cell battery.

I think you can even stick a merom (core 2 duo) in the 'old' one with a BIOS upgrade.
