I do not have all the facts, because I have not yet done this upgrade. However, the posts here have an undercurrent of problems that is believable.
It seems reasonable to suggest people wait before upgrading PC Doctor. Do not upgrade PC Doctor until and unless there is information on Lenovo's site that this problem has been addressed in some way.
Disclaimer: I am not speaking for Lenovo, this Forum, its owner and sysadmin Bill Morrow, or anyone else. I have reviewed the posts, and this seems a reasonable short-term conclusion on my part until we know better what to do.

I wish I saw this sooner. I've been a long time viewer and I just decided to signup today because of this problem.
I ended up having to restore my system to factory settings using Rescue and Recovery and now I'm going though hell. The problem occured again after running System Update; I previously thought the problem occured when I installed WMP11.
Does uninstalling PC Doctor fix the Add Remove Programs issue?

Unfortuanately, uninstalling PCD5 alone does not resolve the issue since it involves some pretty drastic changes to the registry wheere the ARP CPL looks for the uninstaller reference data. The easiest solution would be to apply, if one has it, a registry image pre-dating the silent install of PCD5; if such is not available, one could either reinstall everything to regenerate the keys or actually go through it by hand and regenerate the keys. It isn't PCD5 that does it, rather it is the silent installer package that gets through via SI or SU2 to the system; not all Thinkpads, even of the same model, are affected by this, strangely enough.eTools wrote: Does uninstalling PC Doctor fix the Add Remove Programs issue?

Running System Restore from Windows SAFE MODE fixed the problem for me and a number of others. Choose a System Restore Point from before PC Doctor 5 was installed. Press F8 at boot-up to enter SAFE MODE.
EDIT: I cannot take credit for finding the repair solution. That belongs to forum member USSS.

Recently I bought my T60, it came from factory with PC-doctor 5 installed and I encountered the problem of wrong report in Software Installer, there appeared as uninstalled windows updates that the Add remove software utility reported as already installed.
Well according to forum´s post suggestions I made a to factory state full restore, unistalled PC-Doctor 5, performed all the updates and do you know what?
THE PROBLEM IS STILL IN THERE... so it shouldn´t be only PC-Doctor´s problem, it has to do with Sofware Installer...
