"Unauthorized Network Card"

#1 Post by taz42zero » Sat Nov 04, 2006 12:07 am

i'm wanting to upgrade my wireless from the 2100b to the 2200bg, but when i boot up the system, it won't boot, just says "Unauthorized Network Card" and to remove the mini-pci card. once i swap back, its fine. ibm told me that only a card from ibm would work, but wouldn't tell me why. does anyone know why this is?

i've been trying to find a genuine ibm card, thought i found one on ebay, and they guy sent me a card that was different than the one in the picture..... :lame:

You can try the no-1802 utility. More info at Thinkwiki:

I used a hack to get it to skip the check (I'm sure it's what mysbca posted.) Can't remember where I got it but it was just a .com file I had to run in DOS. Worked great. I couldn't believe IBM sent me a wireless card that the laptop wouldn't accept.

Please make sure that your BIOS and EC are the most current version available. If adapter still doesn't work, and it was purchased from IBM, call IBM!
