T42 CD-RW Drive doesnt burn CDs????????????

Hi All,
I am trying to use my cd-rw drive to burn a cd, but my T42 doesnt do it. I tried so many softwares, like windows media player, winamp, IBM record now and others, but everything gives an error.
any idea how I can fix it? I tried to upadate drivers for cd rom, but I couldnt do that as well.
I totally appreciate all your help and support.Thanks in advance.

Does it seem to try to burn CD-Rs but after trying for a while, it gives you those error messages?

Does the drive read CD?

My drive started to be selevtiv on which brands I could burn, later it was reading only every other CD or so... Called IBM, new drive was delievered in less then two days.

Have you tried using another CD in your CD-RW drive and burn again.

Problem might be with the CD itself.

Hi All,
thanks for helping me out with the suggestions. some of you have asked waht error it gave..
It just tells me that there was a drive error and I should check the CDs, may be try anohtre CD or a cd of different brand. Thats all:(

Yes!

the semiconductor laser-diodes usually get weaker/fail after a few years. This is also the usual cause of death for audio cd -player.

Symptoms:
1. only some CDs are read and writable
2. all CDs fail

it is also possible that the cd lens is dirty. try using a coton stick ( don`t know the english term: what you use the clean Babys ears) wtted with iso-propanol to clean the lens on the drive. ( do not rinse or use force).
