i've heard the Kensington line fits the X series. But why not just keep it with you in a backpack - it's light enough, no? In traveling with my X40, it's always with me, but i'm paranoid.

Well thanks for your response. I do carry it back and forth daily but in
my school i have to worry about it walking away during lunch, preptime etc. Is the security lock on the side? I have been looking and the best I can tell is that there is a little hole place that i can not account for.

thanks
Dora

on the x40, it's on the right side toward the back, but dunno about the x31.

At lunch, why note just a sleeve for it and put in a normal backpack and keep it with you? I'm just not sure how secure those cables are. My thinking is that, even if it secured, if someone wants the laptop bad enough, they'll get it. And i've heard stories of thieves ripped the lock out of the socket itself. Damages the casing, but can be fixed.

I agree, this is definitely the best solution.

Yes, but that's not the only thing. Some teachers' rooms are like zoos, populated with wild, mad, deadly creatures lurking in every corner. Teachers are very strange beings that can be more envious, childish, treacherous and spiteful than the next rascal. This is my personal experience as a teacher.

Your problem might not only be theft, but also intentional damage that is inflicted on your notebook. In this case, a lock wouldn't prevent anything. Be careful.
