88 Ibm compatible lcd screens LOOK HELP"GURU NEEDED&q

#1 Post by dannydoo » Sun Nov 05, 2006 5:45 am

I have an r40 2723 14.4 xga

This guy khahlik says all of these screens will work w/r40 if it has a 10 pin video. And thereres a ton of them.

He says the r series has different configuration in the pins from EVERYSINGLE lcd.not incl the listed ones i believe?

He says every other pin is a ground and the first two are power."in the r series"

The thing is,if you shop around ebay, you can get 1 of these for 20/30$ if you go straight for your model, its 350-500 for a screen.R SERIES.

MY specific screen is
fru 93p5546 ibm p/n 93p5547
I am positive these are sub models also.
j17939 92p6665 92p6641 92p6640 11p8364

I did alot of cross referencing on ebay and thru all these numbers. And it seems as if those listed screens are in fact usable for every listed model.HE TOLD ME THIS IS FOR MY R40 ALSO.
Even tho IT,nor, its sub models are listed. hmmmmm???

I been going crazy for 3 days straight,I called IBM theyre dummies, and everyone else seems to want to keep the compatibility thing to themselves.Like its a great chinese trade secret.
I emailed this guy so many times,I feel bad asking anymore questions.I just want to confirm this w/1 more person b4 I blow up this machine I put together for a year and this is my last part.

well I went ahead and ordered a screen that jives with his long list of numbers.

I wish i knew how to tell if the pins are wired correctly before I put power to it
